Colorful Bubbles

ANNICORN

FRUIT SOUR SERIES

Annicorn’s namesake was a powerhouse of tart wit, industrious work ethic, and everyday miracle-making, with silky locks of silver. Ann could bend rainbows to her will and brightened each and every day. This fruit sour series honors all whose memories live on in bursts of light & color.

Modern Beer Brewery
TS Hops

Scott Karlen

Born in Vermont and bred in the New England craft beer tradition, Scott Karlen's passion for craft beer was born while home brewing with his father, Tom, in his childhood garage. Notably inspired by his father's recipes for ESB and pale ale, Scott made a career U-turn, left his job as an EMT, and invested in his education at Siebel Institute. He has never looked back.

Head Brewer

Favorite TaleSpinner Beer:

Mad Fer It ESB

Scott's first brewery job was at Harpoon (VT), where he quickly rose in the ranks from guiding tours to the cellar, and finally landing in the brewhouse. From there, Scott worked as Head Brewer for a Massachusetts brewery, before coming on to help launch TaleSpinner Brewery in the winter of 2022.

I believe that we are in the golden age of beer innovation and feel fortunate to be part of this industry at this exact time.

Scott is as passionate about craft brewing as he is about the industry. He approaches his craft by building brews with traditional backbones that can be modernized with expansive, high-quality ingredients, isolating distinct flavors along the way. The result? A feeling and a tale with every recipe. Known to “walk on the weird side” of beer recipes and experimentation, he once set out to create a jerk-spiced oatmeal stout. The brew didn’t exactly go as planned, but it did make for a phenomenal marinade.

Scott defines brewing as his life’s work, and he plans to hang up his mash paddle and safety goggles at the tender age of 95.
